The Oct 26 change
The new chart questions aren't in the book.
Until now, chart questions pointed at figures in the testing supplement (FAA-CT-8080-2H), so you could study them in advance. From October 26, 2026 the test adds image-based questions using excerpts from recent sectional charts. What the FAA changed
Study the supplement
- Chart questions refer to figures in the testing supplement
- The figures are published, so you can learn them ahead of time
- Recognizing the figure goes a long way
Read a chart cold
- Image-based questions not found in the supplement
- Excerpts from recent FAA sectional charts
- You decode the symbols on the spot

Who makes SectionalDrill and how are the questions built?
SectionalDrill is an independent study tool, not a flight school and not affiliated with the FAA. Every chart answer comes from FAA data (NASR airport, frequency and airspace files, the Digital Obstacle File and special use airspace data) and every chart image is an excerpt of an FAA sectional (Sep 3, 2026 edition). See the About page for how questions are built and how to report an error.
